đ» Is Gdynia The Same As Gdansk
Trojmiasto (Tricity) is actually an urban area consisting of three big cities in Pomerania (Pomorze): GdaĆsk, Gdynia, Sopot. They are located next to each other, in a row, on the coast of the Baltic Sea. All the three cities together have a population of over 1 million people. Before 2007, the name âTrojmiastoâ wasnât official, however
Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot, are three neighboring towns that form the tri-city (troj-miasto) area of Gdansk. So, we ventured out to Sopot to see what the difference is. The shores of Sopot are much more expansive and the main tourist area is very opulent with more bars, restaurants, and shops.
Don't know if you visited Sopot and Gdynia and the surround towns and neighborhoods when you were in Gdansk, but if not, they are highly recommended. Gdansk has a lot of old neighborhoods like Oliwa that aren't on the radar like the Old Town, but also offer a lot. Poznan and Wroclaw are also known to be very pretty.
Look at the old architecture, search for funny drainpipes, relax near the Neptune statue, see Gdansk city hall, visit shops and eat ice cream. Be sure to visit Amber Street (Ul. Mariacka) to explore the regionâs rich history of amber treasures. (See if kids can find any million-year-old insects!).
Gdansk is part of the Tricity region which includes nearby Gdynia and Sopot. The former is just a 30-minute train ride on the SKM railway and well worth a visit.
There are two options : Main city near the river. Upper Gdansk near Gdansk Glowny station. I know the main city is better, but I'm going to use trains to get to Gdynia so it'll be a comfortable night walk at night if I book near Gdansk Glowny. My question is that I see the second station near the main city - Gdansk Srodmieacie station.
7. Gdansk and Stutthof Concentration Camp Private Tour. Begin with a pickup from any location in Gdansk, Sopot, or Gdynia. Then, drive 1 hour to visit the Stutthof Concentration Camp, where you will learn about the tragic chapter of Polish history under Nazi occupation.
