Your best way is to join a HP (Hero Point) train in any of the expansion maps. To find one either keep an eye in map chat, ask in map chat for help, or look in the Looking for Group (LFG) tab under the map you were trying to get them off of. Each Expansion HP gives you 10 points rather than 1.
Each character can earn up to 33 hero skill points in Nightfall and 40 in Eye of the North; these can be used in either campaign. Two points for each Sunspear rank (the first two ranks earn one point each). Two points for each Lightbringer rank (the first rank earns only one point). One point for each rank earned in the Asura, Deldrimor, Ebon
Fastest way is to boost. Start the heart of thorns story. Farm exp untill you Unlock gliding. There are quite a few hero points in POF that people have trouble soloing, not always because of the hero points themselves, but because of the creatures that surround them.
